I still have yet to type a winning playoff blog. It's going on 3 years of blogging and goddammit it just isn't meant to be for SD! Ghosts of playoff past rose from Qualcom's field. The uncanny knack of the Chargers in they're history of playoff failure. When we achieve a critical 3 and out late in the game, Parker fumbles the punt! McCree gets an INT late, and is stripped of the ball. NE gets it back. That was like on a NE 4th and 8. Why the runback the way he did it? Drayton's drive continuing head butt, would have been our ball again. It amazes me and kills my spirit. No excuses, we did lose. We served it up 5 star style and on a silver platter to the Pats. We even threw in a lap dance for free. God Almighty, bet for the Pats and slighted his only son's choice!
In the last 2:00 did we not go to the prevent defense? Does it always work? Yes, it prevents us from winning! Another that falls on Marty is the decision to go for a 4th and fairly long or a 47 yd FG. He went for it, sack. A possible Fg, off the board. If it were that simple there is the difference, we lost by 3. But it isn't. There is much more to whine about. But I feel like I caught my wife cheating on me with my best friend, and I got mugged, and I'm being chased by the roto saw metal ball from Phantasm! I've absorbed too much mental anguish being a Charger fan. Expectations and high hopes, never met. More coming...

Deuce's Wild
I must give a shout out to the Saints. It looked as if they were going to run out the clock when Reggie Bush fumbled, giving Philly one last gasp. They went 3 and out and punted! With like a minute left! Andy has to be second guessing that now. I thought Brees was snake bitten again. The Gods smiled upon him this day. With help from himself and the unstoppable Deuce McAllister. A 4th quarter maniac, he singlehandedly won them the game. The way he squeezed out yds was amazing. Colts beat the Ravens, we know where we stand. Gotta play this out today. Keep the streak alive.

The Battle of San Diego
I feel it too. That little bit of SD anxiety and worry. All the sports talk shows are saying it. We are an unproven playoff team and Rivers played lousy the last 4 games and he will be a liability. It's possible. I'm amongst the minority who totally believe with a tiny twinge of doubt. I remember this about the 2006 season, did we ever not just totally not show up? NEVER. We even almost won the two we lost at Baltimore and KC. When Rivers is down, others step up. We have a team. We have a defense with Merriman. The Pats are elite in the playoffs, like 11-1 or something. Thats hard to beat. But we may be developing our own mini dynasty and we need to knock them off their pedestal.
I have returned from working in 30 degree weather and listening to all sportsradio proclaim the Chargers demise and mighty NE and the sweatsuited genius Bellechick. I swear I think I only heard Colin Cowherd on his show say he liked the Chargers. Trey Wingo said we were toast basically. I like Colin, Rome's act is getting old. That's so funny I spit coffee on my monitor Jim, for like the last 7 years. Boring.Anywho. They're opinions mean nothing to me. It's like musician's who win Grammy's. A nod to the mainstream opinion. Well guess what ESPN bad suit wearin' so called experts, I'm goin' against the grain on this one and picking the Chargers. Wonder why? C'mon now. This is a biased blog to the bone.
I hear the cries of Marty's 5-12 record in the playoffs. And Bellichick's near perfection. He is 11-1 or 12-2, nothing to sneeze at. I think Marty is an old dog who has taken on a few new tricks this year and is not afraid to use them. And he will pull out all the stops with Cameron's help and all the coaches. The players are for sure more psyched than they have ever been in their careers. I would be lying if I didn't say this is a VERY dangerous team and has the tools to best us. I think we have a few more tools in the chest. No, not that kind of tool silly! There is a playoff game in San Diego this Sunday. The city is ready for it. And all will be watching.
GO CHARGERS!!!

Let It Be LT
LaDanian Tomlinson was selected as MVP of the NFL today. He is the 1st Charger ever given the honor. He deserves it. The Franchise. It was unanimous. He got like 44 votes and runner up Drew Brees got 4 or so. This continues the trend of the 2006-7 Chargers. Precedent setters. Exploring new worlds, thats one small step for LT, a giant leap for the Bolts! It just keeps going and going.
The mayor of Vegas called the Chargers I hear, trying to woo them away from SD. The Las Vegas Chargers? All I remember about Vegas football tradition was that "He Hate Me" dude from the XFL. Oh, and Craig Whelihan, x Charger starter who sucked and faded into the XFL, probably buffered by an Arena League stint as well. Sheesh. But the mayor was rebuffed and told the Bolts are staying in SD. But in pro sports, anybody can pull a "Saban" at any moment. Like the vote of confidence for the manager in baseball. He's gone. But Vegas ain't happening anytime soon.
We will be playing KC, NYJ, or NE whoever the lowest seed that wins is. Just for revenge I want the Jets. No fear of sweat suit boy Belichick's schemes or Larry Johnson of KC if we happen to play either one of them. It's about that Kaeding miss in the playoffs a few years back. The Jets. I'm rooting for ya, come back to our house. Need to get that playoff win, validate our regular season and get that 1st ever elusive major title for San Diego in any sport. The defunct SD Sockers or Gulls don't count. Hey, what happened to the AFL2 team in SD, the Riptide? Never heard of them? Well, there ya go. GO CHARGERS!
